A Little Reminder of Home

from £25.00

Tommies of 7th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry make their way up to the front line, one Private, on seeing a scattering of celandine, remembers the pathways and lanes near his home.

An entry in Monty Don’s ‘My Garden World’ tells a tale of how the seeds of celandine were transported into the trenches on the boot soles of soldiers returning from home leave. The story may well be apocryphal, but the image was to beautiful not to create.

-

Original Painting, ink, watercolour and coloured pencil, 29cm x 21cm approx., bockingford 300 gsm watercolour paper.

Limited Edition Prints in two sizes, signed and numbered, on Bockingford 190gsm acid free archival paper.
